n8n automation in Bangladesh: why we run 60+ workflows on it, and when Zapier is still fine

A practical comparison of n8n, Zapier and Make for Bangladeshi businesses: cost in taka, bKash and courier integrations, Bangla AI agents, and the reliability rules that keep workflows from failing silently.

n8n automation in Bangladesh: why we run 60+ workflows on it, and when Zapier is still fine

If you've looked into workflow automation, you've met the big three: Zapier, Make and n8n. All three connect your apps so data moves on its own. For a business in Bangladesh, the choice matters more than the feature lists suggest, because of two things: dollar pricing and local integrations.

I've run more than 60 production workflows on n8n for a group of three companies, and I still recommend Zapier to some clients. Here's how to decide.

The short answer

  • Under 5 simple automations, low volume, no developer: Zapier or Make is fine. You'll be live in an afternoon.
  • Many automations, high volume, or local systems like couriers and bKash: n8n, set up by someone who knows it.
  • AI agents that chat with customers in Bangla: n8n, because you need control over the prompt, the memory and the hand-off rules.

Cost: the dollar problem

Zapier and Make charge per task or operation. Every step of every run counts. A shop with 100 orders a day, where each order triggers six steps (save to sheet, notify team, confirm by WhatsApp, book courier, update CRM, send invoice), uses about 18,000 tasks a month. On Zapier that lands on a paid plan in dollars every month, and it grows with your sales.

n8n can run on your own cloud server for a fixed monthly cost. Volume doesn't change the bill much. At Biddabari, moving the internal tooling and automations onto one managed server cut about $1,000 a month in per-seat and per-task software for a 15-person team. See the case.

For a Bangladeshi business paying in dollars by card, that difference is real money.

Local integrations: where Zapier runs out

Zapier has thousands of apps, but very few Bangladeshi ones. You won't find a ready-made Steadfast, Pathao or RedX courier step, or a bKash payment check.

n8n lets us call any API directly and write small bits of code where no ready block exists. In practice that means:

  • Booking a courier the moment an order is confirmed, and writing the tracking status back to the order
  • Checking a payment reference before marking an invoice paid
  • Sending WhatsApp messages through the official WhatsApp Business API
  • Routing one webhook to the right company and department, which let one system serve three brands at once (case study)

AI agents in Bangla

A customer-facing AI agent needs more than "send message to ChatGPT". It needs your product list, your policies, the conversation history, rules for when to hand over to a person, and a log of what it said.

n8n has AI agent building blocks that work with Gemini, OpenAI and Claude, and we can store memory in a proper database. That's how the 24/7 admissions assistant at Biddabari answers in Bangla and English and passes real cases to the team. Read the case.

Reliability: the part nobody sells you

Here's the uncomfortable truth about automation. It fails. An API changes, a token expires, a courier site is down for an hour. The question is whether you find out in five minutes or five days.

Every workflow we ship follows the same rules:

  1. An error branch on every flow. If a step fails, the workflow does something about it.
  2. Retries with a pause. Most failures are temporary, so try again before raising the alarm.
  3. No double processing. If the same order arrives twice, it's handled once.
  4. An alert that names the record. "Order #4821 failed at courier booking", not "something went wrong".
  5. Backups and version history. If a change breaks something, we roll back in minutes.

Ask any automation agency, whichever tool they use, to show you these five things in a live workflow. If they can't, the tool doesn't matter.

n8n vs Zapier vs Make at a glance

Zapier Make n8n
Setup speed Fastest Fast Needs an expert
Pricing Per task, in USD Per operation, in USD Fixed server cost
High volume Gets expensive Moderate Cheap
Bangladeshi APIs (courier, bKash) Hard Possible Easy
Custom AI agents Basic Moderate Full control
Who maintains it You You Your agency or developer

So which one?

If you're testing automation with two or three small flows, start with Zapier and learn what you need. When the monthly bill or the missing integrations start to hurt, move the core workflows to n8n and keep Zapier only where it's simpler.

That's the path we usually recommend. If you want us to look at your current setup and tell you what to keep and what to move, book a free call. We build on n8n, WhatsApp and AI agents every day.
